This is the second in my new project of Cryptozoology, Mythology and other Bizarre and Rare Creatures.
This is a manipulated photo of an Amethystine Python in the San Diego Zoo. They are native to Australia so I thought it would be fitting to use this picture as the Rainbow Serpent is from Australian mythology.

The Rainbow Serpent is a mythological creature from the Aboriginal Dreamtime. As it moved across the land it carved the rivers into the Earth and pushed up the mountains. It is sometimes seen as a benevolent protector of the people but a punisher of law breakers.
There are many names for the Rainbow Serpent from each of the language groups. Some examples are Ngalyod from the Gunwinggu and Borlung from the Miali.
